The Buffalo Sabres went into the lottery with a 25 percent chance of picking first overall in the 2014 NHL Draft, better odds than any other team. However, the Florida Panthers, who finished with the second-worst record in the League this past season, won the lottery and now hold the top pick.
Buffalo is slated to pick second overall when the first round of the draft kicks off on June 27 from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
