Tonight’s Classic Sabres Replay on MSG at 8 p.m. – the final game at The Aud – brought an end to a special era in franchise history. Following the broadcast, fans should stick around to hear four Sabres legends share memories of their time in Buffalo.

The “Rafters Club Roundtable” debuts at 10 p.m., and features Rene Robert, Danny Gare, Pat LaFontaine and Hall of Famer Gilbert Perreault discussing a variety of topics with host Brian Duff, including their time playing in Buffalo, favorite moments in Sabres history and what it means to be ambassadors of the team.

Each of the four men have their retired numbers hanging in the rafters at First Niagara Center, and understand the permanent ties they will always have to Western New York.

“To have my number up there – to have had that chapter in my life – is a very special chapter that I hold dear. I feel really connected to this community and to this team,” said LaFontaine. “We hope that all of us somewhere along the line paved the road to get to that Stanley Cup. And when that day happens, we’ll all be here with a proud smile on our faces.”

The roundtable also looks back at a memorable time in Sabres history, when the fledgling franchise went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1975. Led by the famous French Connection line of Perreault, Robert and Rick Martin, the Sabres of the 70’s were an incredibly tight group that formed a unique bond both on and off the ice.

“Our team was as close as any team I’ve ever been associated with. We not only brought that on the ice during a game, we’d bring it to practice,” Gare explained. “I remember there were fights – Schony would get in fights, Carriere would get in fights. It was a competitive nature, and a competitive spirit. I think that’s what brought our team together.”

Viewers in the Buffalo and Rochester markets will be able to watch tonight’s programming on MSG, while viewers in the Syracuse, Binghamton and Albany markets can watch on the MSG+ network. DirecTV subscribers can view tonight’s classic game broadcast on channels 638 and 638-1(HD).

The Rafters Club, unveiled in November, is a new organizational initiative that brings together some of the franchise’s most legendary players to act as ambassadors for the team’s many charitable events and community programs.
