2006-07 Schedule Announced

July 12, 2006

The Buffalo Sabres today announced their 2006-2007 regular season schedule.

The Sabres' 37th season of operation will begin in the same arena that last year's ended, as the Sabres face the defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, October 4 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C. The Sabres will face the Hurricanes four times during the season.

The Sabres will open up the home portion of their schedule against their division rival Montreal Canadiens on Friday, October 6. The Sabres will play all of their Northeast Division foes (Boston, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto) a total of eight times (four home and four road). All Friday night home games will faceoff at 8:00 p.m. All other home games will begin at 7:00 p.m., except the January 1 game, which will start at 5:00 p.m.

Buffalo will once again feature variable pricing for tickets to all home games. Variable pricing places games into four price categories: Gold, Silver, Bronze and Value. The categories are based on opponent, time of year, day of week, classic rivalries and games against marquee players. This season there are six (6) Gold games, 17 Silver games, 13 Bronze games and five (5) Value Games.

Among the 41 home games on the schedule are a few holiday matchups. The Sabres will host the Canadiens on Friday, November 24 during Thanksgiving weekend and the Washington Capitals will visit the HSBC Arena on Tuesday, December 26. The NY Islanders will help ring in the New Year with an afternoon game on January 1.

The Buffalo Sabres are coming off one of the most productive seasons in team history. The 2005-06 edition set a franchise record for wins with 52 which was the 11th 40+ win season in franchise history. The team's 110 points also matched the franchise record set by the 1979-80 team. The Sabres also set a club record for road victories last season with 25 and finished with the 53 points, good for the third-best road record in the NHL (25-13-3).
