Sekera Agrees To Terms

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms with defenseman Andrej Sekera on a three-year entry level contract.

Sekera, the 6-0, 191-pound defenseman from Bojnice, Slovakia was named the Ontario Hockey League's most outstanding defenseman for the 2005-06 season. Sekera finished the season with 55 points (21+34) in 51 games for the Owen Sound Attack. The 19-year-old recorded 13 multiple-point games including back to back hat-tricks last year. Sekera was also named to the OHL First All-Star Team.

Sekera, the Sabres' third-round selection (71st overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft was a member of Team Slovakia at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia this past winter. In six games during the tournament, Sekera finished with five points (2+3).
