Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed Marek Zagrapan, the team's 13th overall selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Also signed on Monday were forwards Jiri Novotny, Chris Thorburn and Michael Ryan.

Novotny (23, 6'4", 205 lbs.) appeared in 14 regular season games for the Sabres last year, notching two goals and an assist.  He also played in four playoff games during Buffalo's run to the Eastern Conference Finals.  The native of Pelhrimov, Czech Republic finished the year as the Rochester Americans' leading scorer, posting career-highs in goals (17), assists (37), and points (54) in 66 games.

Thorburn (23, 6'3", 206 lbs.) was Buffalo's second round choice in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.  Thorburn made his NHL debut for the Sabres in 2005-06, picking up one assist and seven penalty minutes in two games.  In 77 games for Rochester last year, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.-native registered a career-high 50 points (23+27) in 77 games.  In three seasons with Rochester, he has 101 points (41+60).
