Two Assigned To Rochester
Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the team has assigned forwards Drew Stafford and Clarke MacArthur to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. This leaves the Sabres with 27 players still in training camp.

Stafford, Buffalo's first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft, was held pointless in his only preseason action against Columbus on September 19. Stafford signed with Buffalo on May 3, following three seasons with the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux, scoring 118 points (48+70) in 120 games. The 20-year-old native of Faribault, Minn., posted career highs in 2005-06 by scoring a team-leading 24 goals and 48 points in 42 games. He also led the NCAA with seven shorthanded goals.

MacArthur, Buffalo's third-round selection (74th overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft, returns to Rochester where he was second in team scoring with 53 points (21+32) in 69 games last season. MacArthur didn't record a point in a pair of preseason games, but scored the shootout deciding goal in Buffalo's 3-2 win against Pittsburgh last Saturday in Hamilton, Ont.

Buffalo's next game is tonight in Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. The Sabres close out their exhibition schedule on Saturday as they host the Penguins in their only home game of the preseason beginning at 7 p.m. (MSG) at HSBC Arena. Tickets are still available at Value pricing levels.

Every Sabres preseason game can be heard on Sports Radio WGR AM 550.
