Rochester's four-game winning streak to open the team's 51st season is the best start since the 1999-00 squad reeled off nine straight victories. The Amerks remained unbeaten with two wins over the Binghamton Senators last week. Rochester downed the B-Sens 2-1 in a sudden-death shootout Friday and then beat Binghamton 3-2 the following night.
This week, Rochester plays two games in two nights. On Friday, October 20th, the Amerks host the Peoria Rivermen at 7:35 p.m. and then travel to play the Toronto Marlies on Saturday, October 21st at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.
The Peoria Rivermen make their second stop in Rochester in the team's history. Last season, the Rivermen defeated the Amerks 2-1 on March 15th at The Blue Cross Arena. The affiliate of the St. Louis Blues had a banner first season in the AHL, finishing third in the West Division and advancing to the Calder Cup Playoffs.
This season, the Rivermen are 3-1-0-0 (six points) and are two points behind the West Division leading Iowa Stars. Peoria has won two straight after completing a weekend sweep of the San Antonio Rampage.
On Saturday, Rochester makes its first of five trips to Ricoh Coliseum to play the Toronto Marlies. The game is also part of a 10-game regular season series between the North Division rivals. The Marlies (1-2-1-0, three points) are in fourth place after having gone winless in their last three games.
