Kennedy Goes Global with Coast-to-Coast Score

November 28, 2006
By Brian Wheeler

Buffalo Sabres prospect Tim Kennedy has been You Tubed.

Kennedy - a sophomore at Michigan State, a South Buffalo native, and Bishop Timon-St. Jude alumnus - went coast-to-coast against arch-nemesis Michigan in a 2-1 Spartans loss on November 21 and became a instant, internet hit in the process.

Maybe it was the way Kennedy sliced between three defenders before beating Wolverines netminder Billy Sauer with a forehand or the way the color commentator described the move as "Gretzy-like," but either way, Kennedy's one-man show has been circulating message boards ever since.

Acquired from Washington just hours after the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for the Sabres sixth-round pick in the 2006, Kennedy has made a career of burning his school's biggest rival.

In eight career games against the Wolverines, Kennedy has recorded five goals and seven points.

Toughness has always been one of Kennedy's strengths. He returned from a wrist injury that limited him to just 29 games during his freshman season to lead the Spartans with nine goals and 15 points in 13 games this season.

In 29 games during his freshman season, Kennedy posted four goals and 19 points, earning an Honorable Mention on the CCHA All-Rookie Team.
