Ruff Officially an All-Star

Head coaches Lindy Ruff of the Buffalo Sabres and Randy Carlyle of the Anaheim Ducks will lead the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star Teams, respectively, at the 2007 NHL All-Star Game, Wednesday, Jan. 24 in Dallas (8 p.m. ET, VERSUS, CBC, RDS, NHL Radio).

Under the selection process for All-Star coaches, the head coach and assistant coach for the Eastern Conference All-Stars are the head coaches of the two teams with the top points percentages in the Eastern Conference through games of Friday, Jan. 5, the halfway point of the 2006-07 regular season. The head coach and assistant coach of the Western Conference All-Stars are the head coaches of the two teams with the best points percentages in the Western Conference.

Ruff's Sabres lead the Eastern Conference with a points percentage of .763, posting 61 points in 40 games (29-8-3) entering Thursday's play, and are assured of having the Conference's top points percentage through Friday. Carlyle's Ducks lead the Western Conference with a points percentage of .738, posting 62 points in 42 games (28-8-6), and are guaranteed of topping their Conference.

Montreal Canadiens head coach Guy Carbonneau (23-11-5, .654) and Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock (25-9-5, .705) lead close races for the All-Star Game assistant coach position in the Eastern and Western Conference, respectively.

The 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration hosted at American Airlines Center in Dallas will feature live national broadcasts of the NHL YoungStars Game presented by Upper Deck and Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills on Tuesday, Jan. 23 and the NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 24 on VERSUS in the United States and CBC and RDS in Canada starting at 8 p.m., ET. NHL RADIO on Westwood One will provide exclusive, national radio coverage in the United States and Canada, while Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio each will provide radio play-by-play coverage of the game.

The starting lineups for the 2007 NHL All-Star Game, as selected by fans in COLD-fX/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports, will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 9, exclusively on VERSUS during its national U.S. telecast featuring the Detroit Red Wings at Colorado Avalanche and on RDS in Canada (Atlanta Thrashers at Montreal Canadiens).

Complete rosters for the 2007 NHL All-Star Game and the NHL YoungStars Game presented by Upper Deck will be announced Saturday, Jan. 13, exclusively on CBC during its coverage of Hockey Day In Canada and on RDS.
