Support the Briere Bunch

March 1, 2007
By Brian Wheeler

Daniel Briere has become increasingly aware of how lucky he is to be living his dream every day of his life. And for that reason, Briere and friend, Dave Pietrowski of LoVullo Associates, wanted to find a way to help a very special organization better the lives of children who maybe can't reach their dreams.

The Briere Bunch was the brainchild of that partnership; a group of fans that support's not only Briere's accomplishments on and off the ice but Camp Good Days' as well.

"We wanted to start something with the hats," said Briere, who will autograph each hat sold through the Briere Bunch's website (www.brierebunch.com). "We started talking and thought it would be cool if all the profits from [the hat sales] would go to charity. [Camp Good Days] is a great organization and I wanted something that would affect this area."

Each hat features the Briere Bunch's logo on the front and the number 48 on the back.

All proceeds from the sale of the limited edition caps will be donated to the camp, which is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life challenges.

"Having a chance to meet some of the kids that have been part of their camps, you realize how fortunate you are to have what you have or do what you do," said Briere. "For me, playing hockey was always my dream, so you try to give back a little bit."

A large supporter of Camp Good Days (www.campgooddays.org) for several years, Briere became intimately involved in the organization though different events in which he participated.

All programs and events of the camp are free of charge to its participants, so the camp relies heavily on fundraising events and donations.

"Seeing some of their kids and their smiles when we stop and talk with them for a few minutes or sign autographs, makes you realize how fortunate you are."

Located on the shores of Keuka Lake in Branchport, NY, the residential camping programs as well as year-round activities in the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Central Florida areas for entire families.

At Camp Good Days, participants have the opportunity to regain some of what cancer, sickle cell anemia, HIV/AIDS, or violence has taken away from them.
