Ruff Receives Consecutive Nod

May 1, 2007

The National Hockey League announced today that Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff has been nominated for the Jack Adams Award, which is awarded annually "to the NHL coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team's success," as selected by the NHL Broadcasters' Association.

Ruff was the recipient of the Jack Adams Award last season (pictured above) after guiding the Sabres to 52 wins during the regular season and into the Eastern Conference Finals.

This season, Ruff led the Sabres to the first Presidents' Trophy in franchise history, posting a 53-22-7 record for 113 points. Buffalo was also the NHL's highest-scoring team with 308 goals.

Hired in July 1997, Ruff is the longest tenured head coach currently in the league.

He is joined by Pittsburgh's Michel Therrien and Vancouver's Alain Vigneault.
