Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms with defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani on a three-year entry level contract.

Gragnani (6-1, 180 lbs.) was Buffalo’s third-round selection (87th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec, played his last four seasons with the Prince Edward Island Rocket of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

This past season, Gragnani was fourth on his team in scoring with 68 points (22+46) in 62 games. Gragnani was second overall in goals, and fifth in points among all QMJHL defensemen. Gragnani’s combined total of 139 points (38+101) in 127 games over the past two seasons led all QMJHL defensemen.

“Marc-Andre Gragani is an offensively-gifted player who will fit in well with the Sabres organization,” explains Regier. “He is an excellent skater with a good shot, and he moves the puck well, as evidenced by the great offensive numbers he’s posted during his four years in junior.”

Gragnani has participated in Sabres’ training camp in each of the last two years.
