SABRES GET A NEW LOOK THIS SEASON
The Buffalo Sabres will sport a new look for the 2007-08 season.

The Reebok Edge uniforms, unveiled at last year's NHL all-star game, will be the new standard for all NHL teams.

Although no modifications have occured to the Sabres logo or overall appearance, there are a few other differences.

The "jersey consists of lightweight advanced materials to provide increased range of motion, ventilation, durability and comfort," according to Reebok's Web site.

The sweaters are also designed to be moisture-repelent.

The uniforms previously used by the league retained moisture through sweat, water bottles and ice. The new jerseys have incorporated "bead-away moisture repelent technology" resulting in 76 percent less moisture absorbed.

In addition, Reebok reported the jerseys may keep players up to 10 degrees cooler and cause 9 percent less drag according to tests at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

NHL teams will only have home and away jerseys this season, eliminating the alternate jersey league-wide because of the high demands on production.

The costs of undertaking such a project may be high for the NHL now, but may pay off later. The life of the new jerseys may be extended up to two times as much as the old ones.

The Reebok Edge jerseys are now on sale in the Sabres Store and online. The Sabres Store is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
