CIPOLLA JOINS ROCHESTER AS ASSISTANT COACH

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the team has hired Jason Cipolla to become an assistant coach with the club’s AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans. Cipolla replaces Moe Mantha who left the Amerks at the end of last season.
Cipolla, 34, played 12 seasons in the AHL following a four-year college career at Yale University. The native of Toronto, Ont., played two of his 12 seasons in Rochester (1999-2001), collecting 94 points (35+59) in 145 games. A forward during his playing days, Cipolla finished his AHL career in 2001-02 with Manitoba, before going on to play five seasons in Germany and Finland.
“We are pleased to once again have Jason in the Sabres organization,” Regier said. “His knowledge of the AHL and international hockey will be a tremendous asset to us, as will his understanding and familiarity of our organizational philosophy.”
