NOVEMBER IS PREMATURITY AWARENESS MONTH
Join the March of Dimes in celebrating Prematurity Awareness Month this Friday at the Buffalo Sabres versus Montreal Canadiens game in HSBC Arena (7:30 p.m., MSG, WGR 550-AM).

March of Dimes staff and volunteers will be distributing prematurity awareness magnets and collecting coins for their "Change for Babies" campaign throughout the HSBC Arena pavilion prior to and during the Northeast Division contest.  Fans can also stop outside the 100 Harbour Club at the March of Dimes table to receive a free Sabres tattoo.

About the Campaign
During the month of November, the March of Dimes strives to educate the general public to the growing crisis of premature birth.   On average, one in seven babies worn in the Western New York area are born premature.

The national pre-term birth rate is 12.5 percent which means that more than 500,000 infants are born too soon each year, according to the March of Dimes' website, while mortality rates among pre-term births are six times greater than that of full-term babies, according to an analysis published in the Journal of Pediatrics.

The March of Dimes is committed to putting forward programs to address this national problem and  works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Their mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.  They carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives.

March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.

All Sabres fans attending the game are encouraged to support the March of Dimes.
