The Boston College junior earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors following a five-point performance against Harvard on Dec 12.

In a 7-2 victory for the Eagles, Gerbe scored four goals, including three on the power play, and added an assist. 

Gerbe is now sixth among D-I players with 6 power-play goals on the season. He is also tied for fourth in goals with 13 scores in 14 games, and tenth in overall scoring with 21 points.

The victory over the Crimson marked the 20th multi-point game of Gerbe’s collegiate career and the second time he earned the Player of the Week award in Hockey East. Gerbe looks to keep his three-game point streak alive when the Eagles take on Air Force Saturday, Dec. 29.

Tim Kennedy

At the heels of Gerbe in the scoring ranks is Michigan State junior Tim Kennedy, who is sixth in D-I goals with 12 in 17 games.

He is also tied for third in the league with seven power play goals on the year.

The Buffalo native leads the Spartans in scoring this season with 20 points (12+8) and is third among active MSU players in overall points. In 71 games played for Michigan State, Kennedy has collected 22 goals and 40 assists.

The Spartans face non-conference opponent Michigan Tech on Friday, Dec. 28, as Kennedy  looks to extend his point streak to four games.

Alex Biega

Harvard defenseman Alex Biega is holding his own in scoring among blueliners. The sophomore is ranked second on the team in overall scoring with eight points (1+7), one point behind his younger brother Michael (6+3).

Biega added helpers in two consecutive games, against the Vermont Catamounts and Boston College respectively.

In his rookie campaign in 2006-07, Biega finished with 18 points (6+12) in 33 games.

Matt Generous

Matt Generous is also having a solid season in his junior year for St. Lawrence University.

The bluelinder leads the team with a plus-eight rating and is second on the team in scoring among defenseman with six points on the year (2+4).

The Saints do not play again until they meet the University of New Hampshire on Sunday, Jan. 6.

Chris Butler

He has yet to score a goal, but the assists are steadily pouring in for Chris Butler.

He leads the University of Denver defensemen in points with eight on the year, including a helper in Denver's 6-2 win against Alaska-Anchorage Dec. 15.

In his first two years, Butler combined for 49 (17+32) points in 79 games

The Pioneers will strive for it's fifth straight victory on Friday Dec. 28 when the Pioneers take on Sacred Heart.

Andrew Orpik
Position: Defenseman

Rounding out the defenders is Buffalo native Andrew Orpik. The sophomore is following in his brother, Pittsburgh Penguins forward, Brook's footsteps leading Boston College with 39 penalty minutes.

The junior has also collected six points (3+3) this season.
