In the System looks at Sabres prospects from around the globe, updating each player's progress throughout the season. This week, In the System focuses on European players.

Marek Zagrapan

Position: Center
Shoots: Left
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 195
Born: Dec 06 '86  (Age 21)
Born in: Presov, Slovak Republic
Drafted: Buffalo's 1st round choice, 13th overall, in 2005

Marek Zagrapan went on a mid-season scoring streak in December for the Rochester Americans. The 21-year-old centerman collected 10 points (5+5) in 13 games on the month, doubling the output he contributed in November (4+1).

Zagrapan leads the team in goals with 12 and is ranked fourth on the Amerks in scoring with 22 points (12+10) in 38 games- behind only Sabres’ prospects Clarke MacArthur (30) and Mark Mancari (27), and Florida Panthers’ prospect Stefan Meyer (23).

He also leads the team in another category. Zagrapan has scored the first goal of the game four times this season. Only two players in the AHL have done that feat more often.

In 2006-07, Zagrapan’s rookie campaign in the AHL, he collected 38 points (17+21) in 71 games.

The Amerks play three games in as many nights this weekend, looking to break a five-game losing streak. The series begins Friday as Rochester faces Manchester, Hamilton and Peoria respectively.

Born: Jun 08 '86  (Age 21)
Born in: Bojnice, Slovak Republic
Drafted: Buffalo's 3rd round choice, 71st overall, in 2004

Despite being sent down to the AHL, Andrej Sekera has picked up right where he left off.

After being recalled by the Buffalo Sabres in two separate stints, Sekera rejoined the Rochester Americans mid-December, adding three points in his last seven games.

Sekera is ranked second on the team’s defense in scoring with nine points (1+8) in 17 games, behind only Marc-Andre Gragnani who has 17 points (3+14) in 39 games.

The only thing, it seems, that can get in his way is the flu.

Sekera has missed the Amerks' last three games due to illness according to Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle.

The blueliner added three points (1+2) in 21 games for the Sabres during his recall.

The Buffalo Sabres’ sole prospect in the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championships did not disappoint.

Jhonas Enroth brought home the silver medal for Sweden, solidifying a 4-1 record in the tournament.

Enroth’s 114 saves and 90.48 save percentage earned him the honor of being named the No. 1 star on Sweden’s team in a coach’s poll.

He allowed 12 goals in five games, recording 2.33 goals against average- the second best in the tournament behind Canada’s Steve Mason (1.19 GAA).

Coincidentally, Sweden fell to Canada in the gold medal game 3-2 in overtime on Jan. 5.

Enroth currently plays for Sodertalje in the Swedish Elite League. Holding a 2.26 goals against average, he is ranked second in the league behind Farjestads BK Wolves' netminder Jonas Gustavsson (2.25 GAA).

Enroth is also ranked third in the SEL with a 92.48 save percentage.
