“It’s a modern-day twist on the old Sabres look,” enforcer Andrew Peters said.
Utilizing the original crest from the 1970s, the logo has undergone minor modifications for an overall vintage appearance.
“The first thing we wanted to do is go to our new color scheme, which is the deeper blue and gold,” said Director of Creative Services, Frank Cravotta. “After that we added the striping pattern, introduced some silver accents in it and put some silver vertical piping along the front… It makes for a new and unique look.”
The jersey also encompasses a tie at the collar to “reinforce the retro style,” according to Cravotta.
“It brings you back to guys like Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and Rene Robert,” center Derek Roy said. “It brings the legacy of the Sabres back and I think people will appreciate that.”
Fans can pre-order the alternate jersey now at the Sabres Store in HSBC Arena with a $55 deposit required per jersey (payment in full is accepted). All custom, or non-player name jersey requests will be required to pay in full.
Because of the demand on production, the jerseys will not deliver until late November. There are no guarantees on delivery dates.

“The tradition of the old logo is something that is neat to have,” Adam Mair said. “It ties in the past, and that success, with what we are trying to do here and now.”
