We have to forget about what happened in the first 24 games and move forward.

I think there is no better place than the road to get that done.

We start Thursday against the Florida Panthers and that’s a team we haven’t seen this year. It will be a good test – they are a tough team in their own building and they won a big game in Washington against the Capitals on Tuesday.

We have struggled against them in the past so we are going to have to lay everything out on the line and try to get on a roll here.

We want to go on the winning side. We can’t be a team that wins one, loses two… We have to put some streaks together. We are not where we want to be in the standings and playing six games in 10 nights is an important stretch for us.

A good road trip can get us going. It has to.

I remember last season that was kind of the case. We were on a bad skid in the middle of the year heading into Dallas. We won 2-1 that night and played a really solid game. That was a turning point in the season for us and that’s the kind of effort we need. We played really well defensively, didn’t give them anything and they were one of the best teams in the league at the time. That’s what we want, and need, from everybody.

The road trip doesn’t get easier going into Tampa Bay. They handed us a tough loss the last time we faced them this season and Steve Stamkos had a good night for them in our building.

He’s a guy we have to keep our eye on.

The other part is just going there, working hard and keeping it simple. Sometimes when we play at home we try to do too much and it doesn’t help our game. The success that we have had on the road is when we do keep it simple so that’s what we have to get back to.

Hopefully, this will be that fresh start we talked about.
