POMMER\'S BLOG: PHILADELPHIA

I think at this time of year I think it’s important that everyone gets a rest and that’s the reason we had an optional skate today. We just came off three games in four nights and we have a busy schedule this upcoming week. It’s going to be tough, and we found that out against the Senators.

We were right in the game in Ottawa and that’s the disappointing part. The other tough part is that every time we found a way to come back in the game, not too long after we let them get momentum back by giving up a goal.

We definitely have to put that one behind us and look forward to going into Philly. The next few games are huge for us and we have to beat teams that are ahead of us if we want to climb.

They are a good team. They are a physical team. They’ve got guys that can score and we are definitely going to have an eye on Mike Richards for sure.

He played really well the last time we faced them, as did Simon Gagne and Mike Knuble. I think Danny Briere might be back too, so they have a lot of guys up front that can make things happen… it should be a good challenge for us.

Fortunately, our power play has been clicking – our special teams overall has been really good. We’ve been scoring more goals and had a few practices last week where our focus was all about finding different ways to score goals. It has definitely helped lately and hopefully it can carry on because it’s going to be pretty important from here on out.
