The only reason Andreychuk will not be at the ceremony in November is because of the four player maximum. There is no question he is a hall of famer. He scored 640 goals with 274 coming on the power play, tops in the league. He totaled 1338 points during a career that spanned 23 seasons. He also led the Tampa Bay Lightning as captain to the Stanley Cup in 2004. The fact that he could play 23 seasons with limited skating ability is a testament to his skill and hockey aptitude.
Now for Sabres fans disappointed is his days here on teams that had all the talent but didn’t bring home the cup, stop thinking with emotion. This guy belongs in the Hall of Fame. For those that don’t think he is a leader, ask around Tampa Bay. He is one of the most popular athletes in that city and highly revered by everyone in that organization that was there for the Stanley Cup in ’04. Lindy Ruff used him as an example during last summer’s rookie camp on how to play in front of the net. That’s because he was the best at it, and the best belong in the Hall of Fame.
