Brayden McNabb may have never been to Buffalo, but the Western Canada native is already feeling at home.

Selected by the Sabres in the third-round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft (66th overall), McNabb will see some familiar faces next week when he participates in the team’s development camp – including a former classmate in Tyler Myers.

McNabb previously attended Athol Murray College Of Notre Dame – a prep school in Wilcox, Saskatchewan – with the fellow Sabres prospect.

Playing for the Notre Dame Hounds in 2005-06, McNabb joined Myers both on the blueline and in stature - McNabb stands at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds while Myers is 6-foot-7.

“It’ll be great to see him,” McNabb said. “Darcy [Regier] told me all about development camp and Buffalo so I’m really excited. Hopefully he can show me around a bit.”

Myers is not the only connection for McNabb within the Sabres organization. He also played with Zack Kassian (the Sabres first-round pick in 2009, 13th overall) in the 2009 U-18 World Junior Championships for Team Canada.

“Zack is a tough player, a power forward,” McNabb said. “I look forward to joining him and getting started.”

McNabb tied for the lead among Kootenay defensemen with 10 goals and second in points with 36 (10-26-36) in 67 games in 2008-09. His season was highlighted by a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka Memorial and a selection to the 2009 CHL Top Prospects game.

More information on the Sabres Development Camp will be posted on Sabres.com within the week.
