ON THE ROAD is a blog written by Buffalo Sabres Media Relations Coordinator Chris Bandura to give fans an inside look at the team's travel life throughout the 2009-10 season.

Bandura joined the Sabres in 2005 as the primary contact between the team and media at home and on the road. He previously has worked in the AHL, USL and NLL respectively.

For most of you reading this who don’t recognize my name, I am the Sabres’ Coordinator of Media Relations.

This season, I will be writing a journal from the road. I will try to include some stories from our trips and give you a glimpse into what goes into our travels - from the moment we get on the airplane, to the time we get back in our cars to head home.

Before I write my first entry, I want to give a little background as to what my role with the team is and why I am even on the road.

I am entering my fifth season with the team in the communications department, but my eighth within the organization. I spent three years prior with our then minor league affiliate, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League.

My main role, among others within the team, is to organize and facilitate all player and coach interviews with the media - both at home and on the road.  Whether you read a quote from Ryan Miller in the Buffalo News or hear Derek Roy on the radio, it is my job to make sure that the media gets the players they need for interviews.

On our television broadcasts, I’m the guy that you see pacing back and forth in the background sometimes when our players are explaining what just happened in the game to the viewers.

Our players and staff log a lot of miles during the season. There is more to the story then the stats and games you watch on television. It’s a long season and a lot happens throughout the year.. I’m looking forward to sharing some of our stories as a group with you both good and bad. Hopefully by the end of June when our season is finally over, my last journal will about our trip home with a new passenger named Stanley.
