Mark Mancari scored the game-winning goal with 24 seconds remaining in overtime to put the Pirates up 3-2 over the Lowell Devils on Friday night. The goal was his third of the season.

Mancari also collected an assist during Saturday’s game against Bridgeport to extend his point-scoring streak to six games, the eighth longest in the AHL to-date.

Mark McCutcheon net both goals during Portland’s 3-2 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday night.
 
The goals mark centerman’s first career scores as a Pirate, after signing with the team on Oct. 23. 

In only five games played, McCutcheon is tied for fourth among the team in goal scoring.

McCutcheon is a native of Ithaca, NY and is the son of Sabres Associate Coach Brian McCutcheon.

NEWS AND NOTES:
•    Derek Whitmore scored his first goal of the season during Friday night’s 3-2 win over the Lowell Devils.
•    Kyle Wanvig picked up his first goal as a Portland Pirate during Friday’s game.  Wanvig signed with the Pirates on Oct. 21.
•    Jhonas Enroth turned away 56 shots in his last two games, totaling 245 saves in ten games played. Enroth’s save percentage currently sits at .872.
•    Saturday’s loss marked the end of the Pirates three-game winning streak at home.
•    Hans Benson was signed to a Professional Tryout Agreement on Friday (Oct. 30). Benson comes to the Pirates with 94 career AHL games, scoring three goals and five assists for eight points, and 417 penalty minutes. Benson previously played for Cincinnati in the ECHL.
•    Friday’s game on Nov. 6 against the Hershey Bears is United Way/ Word of Life Night as the Pirates welcome fans who have supported the 2009 United Way of Greater Portland Annual Campaign as well as members of the Word of Life Christian Center.
