The Buffalo Sabres announced today that Grant Ledyard, Director of Youth Hockey Development and Head Coach of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, will conduct 11 separate hockey clinics for Mite and Squirt aged children beginning January 31 at HSBC Arena. The goal of these clinics is to inform and instruct each participant on how they can improve every aspects of their own individual game.

Seven of the clinics will be 60-minute on-ice sessions focusing on skating, passing, puck handling and balance training. The cost for each clinic will be $35 per participant. They will take place on:

Sunday, January 31

• 2 -3 p.m., 3:15-4:15 p.m (Mite house);
• 4:30-5:30 p.m. (Mite travel)

Sunday, February 7

• 2-3 p.m. (Squirt house);
• 3:15-4:15 p.m. (Squirt travel)

Wednesday, February 10

• 5-6 p.m. (Mite house);
• 6:15-7:15 p.m. (Mite travel) 

There are also four clinics scheduled for February 14 and 16, with each one running for three hours. There will be two sessions on Sunday, February 14: morning (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) for Mite house, and an afternoon session (1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) for Mite travel. The last two will take place on Tuesday, February 16: morning (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) for Squirt house, and an afternoon session (1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) for Squirt travel. Each clinic will consist of 120 minutes of on-ice training and 30 minutes of off-ice instruction. The cost for each clinic will be $85 per participant.

All clinics are limited to 30 participants. In addition, each session will be able to accommodate three goaltenders who can participate free of charge.

The Buffalo Sabres are dedicated to the growth and development of youth hockey leagues in Western New York. To further encourage participation in the sport, and give athletes in the area a forum for discussion, the organization has released its Amateur Hockey Initiative through sabres.com. In addition, the organization is allowing fans to become active participants. Students, parents or coaches can submit written content about their hockey team.
