The four-day camp will include a series of practice sessions, scrimmages, off-ice conditioning and team meetings. Monday’s practice begins at 7:30 a.m., while Tuesday-Thursday all start at 9 a.m. Players and coaches will be available to the media each day. All on-ice sessions will be open to the public.
Among the players attending rookie camp are former AHL Rookies of the Year Tyler Ennis (2009-10) and Nathan Gerbe (2008-09). Also included are four players who recently attended Team Canada’s development camp for the 2011 World Junior Championship: Zack Kassian, Mark Pysyk, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc and Brayden McNabb. Of the 37 players coming to rookie camp, 29 are Sabres draft picks.
Also taking place this Monday is the team’s annual golf tournament at Park Country Club in Williamsville (4949 Sheridan Drive). The tournament has an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start, with a member of the team’s current roster playing with each foursome. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation. Photo opportunities will be available throughout the day on the course. Contact Mike Gilbert (479-2804) if you plan on covering the event.
