OPENING THE SUGGESTION BOX, VOL. 2

Buffalo Sabres
Dear Fans:

We launched the online Sabres Suggestion Box on Monday, February 28, 2011 as part of our more focused effort to help the organization improve its overall performance and strengthen its relationship with fans. Since then, we’ve received over 5,000 responses to the Suggestion Box.

On behalf of the Buffalo Sabres I want to thank all of those who contributed their ideas to the Suggestion Box. Please know that I continue to read every one of the suggestions and am appreciative of the time and thought behind them. I have discussed your comments with our management team and Terry and Kim Pegula.

“Opening the Suggestion Box” will be a regular feature on Sabres.com where the club’s employees respond to several of the most common recommendations that you were so kind to share with us.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us...and let’s go Sabres!

Sincerely,

Ted Black - President

SUGGESTION:

I’d like to see a longer Sabres pre-game show.

Beginning with Saturday’s home game against the Atlanta Thrashers, we’ll begin airing a 30-minute pregame show for every home and away telecast.  “Degree Game Night” will be hosted by Kevin Sylvester and will preview that night’s opponent while featuring player and coach interviews, news from around the NHL and a detailed look at the playoff races.  Rick Jeanneret and Harry Neale will contribute to the pre-game show while Rob Ray, who will now be a part of all home and away broadcasts, will join the show as well.  Mike Robitaille will continue to provide his unique insight and analysis during home telecasts.

SUGGESTION:

Replay Rick Jeanneret’s calls over the PA when showing goal replays on the video board.

This was a popular suggestion, and as you may have noticed, we began doing this during last Sunday’s 6-4 win over Ottawa.  One of the best parts of being a Sabres fan is the privilege of listening to RJ’s iconic goal calls, and we’re excited to bring that experience inside the Arena.

SUGGESTION:

You should have an event to honor the fans.

This suggestion came to us in a variety of different forms.  As we announced today, we will hold a Fan Appreciation Night during our final regular season home game on Friday, Apr. 8 against the Philadelphia Flyers.  This event will be a celebration of Sabres Hockey as we recognize our fans and invite all Sabres alumni to attend.  Some of the festivities include a red carpet event for the alumni, a pregame on-ice ceremony, an awards presentation and a "Jersey off my back" promotion. (Editor's Note: For the full details on Fan Appreciation Night, click here).

SUGGESTION:

Would it be possible to play new or different music from game to game?

This suggestion appeared in the last edition of “Opening the Suggestion Box” but we wanted to follow up and thank those of you who have participated in #SABRETUNES by sending us suggestions of the songs you want to hear in-game via our Twitter account (@SabresDotCom).  While we can’t fulfill every request, we began choosing fan-submitted songs to play during games prior to last Tuesday’s game and will continue to do so for the remainder of the season. Thanks for everyone’s input!

SUGGESTION:

Can you make the game program into a pdf file so fans can download it from the Website if they aren’t at the game?

This is a great suggestion and one that we implemented prior to Tuesday’s game against Carolina.  Going forward, the Game Night program will be available for download in pdf format on the Fan Guide page on Sabres.com.  On the morning of every home game, be sure to check out the Fan Guide link in the Game Preview panel on Sabres.com for a complete rundown of everything fans need to know in regard to that night’s game.  It features the day’s schedule, game notes, broadcast and promotional information and the playlist for some of the songs that will be played in the Arena that night.
