    SEVEN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW…
Sabres are 23-11-5 since Jan. 1… The Sabres haven’t lost consecutive games since Feb. 18-20… The Sabres have allowed only one power play goal in the past 11 games (35-for-36)… Buffalo’s 9-4-2 March record is its best since the lockout… Ryan Miller was named the NHL’s first star for the week ending Mar. 27… Jason Pominiville scored his 20th goal last night; this is his fifth consecutive 20-goal season… Andrej Sekera has 17 points (2+15) in his last 16 games after snapping a 19-game pointless skid.
  • POMINVILLE POPULATION GROWING
Jason Pominville scored his 20th goal of the season last night at Toronto, giving him 20 or more goals in each of the last five seasons. Pominville became the 22nd NHL player to accomplish this feat this season, joining fellow Sabre Thomas Vanek.
  • COMEBACK KIDS
The Sabres currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference after being 10 points out of playoff position on Jan. 17. If Buffalo can hold or improve their position, they will become the first team to overcome a double-digit point deficit to make the playoffs since the St. Louis Blues did it in 2008-09.
  • THE PK IS OK!
The Sabres are 35-for-36 on the penalty kill over the past 11 games. Since Dec. 23, Buffalo’s penalty kill is at 85.1% (120/141), allowing only 21 goals in 40 games. The Sabres have held their opposition’s power play scoreless in 20 of these games, and have allowed 2 PPG in a game just once – Feb. 13 vs. NYI.
  • SECOND-HALF SURGE
-The Sabres scored 105 goals through the first 41 games of the season. Through the first 35 games of the second half, they have already scored 108, putting them on pace to net 127 in the final 41 games.
-Nathan Gerbe had one goal in the first 41 games and has scored 13 so far in the second half.
-Rob Niedermayer scored zero goals in the first half and has five since.
-The Sabres’ top five goal scorers in the first half were Vanek (16), Stafford (14), Leopold (10), Roy (10) and Ennis (9).
-Their second-half leaders are Stafford (14), Gerbe (13), Pominville (12), Vanek (11) and Ennis (10).
  • LET’S PLAY TWO
Tonight’s game wraps up Buffalo’s 19th of a league-high 22 sets of back-to-back games this season after a 4-3 loss at Toronto last night. The Sabres are 10-8-1 in the first game and 8-8-2 in the second. The Sabres have swept three sets, split 13, and been swept twice.
  • HE’S NUMBER ONE!
Ryan Miller was named the NHL’s first star for the week ending Mar. 27. Miller posted a 3-0-0 record last week, including two shutouts, a 0.67 goals-against average and .976 save percentage. He has now tied his career high with five shutouts this season. In his career, Miller has won 220 career games with the Sabres, 14 shy of Dominik Hasek's franchise record.
