The Buffalo Sabres will be commemorating Veterans Day by honoring members of our nation’s Armed Forces and celebrating the number 11 during the Nov. 11 game against Ottawa. The team will mark 11-11-11 by offering a special ticket package for the game and also by welcoming veterans from all over Western New York. The team’s legendary number 11 and Sabres Hall-of-Famer Gilbert Perreault will be in attendance at the game and will also host the tailgate tent party prior to the night’s contest.

Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of the special ticket bundle being offered for $111. The package will include two 300 Level-II tickets to the game, two hot dogs, two popcorns and two sodas. The Veterans Package is on sale now and tickets can be purchased here or by calling 1-888-GO-SABRES.

Before the game, BlueCross BlueShield of WNY will be collecting donations at entrances of First Niagara Center, with all proceeds benefiting the WNY Heroes Organization.

Sabres players will also be warming up in special camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off online at www.sabres.com with proceeds going to benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation. Before puck-drop, there will be a presentation of the Purple Heart to Chris Kreiger, the founder of WNY Heroes.

Perreault will be hosting the pregame party at the Buffalo Sabres Tailgate Tent Party Presented by Labatt Blue Light. Perreault will visit with fans under the tent for the two-hour pregame party, which will also feature music and entertainment.

Throughout the night, veterans of our Armed Forces will enjoy the game from the 200 Level VIP Suite, being donated by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of WNY.

Participants in Nathan Gerbe’s ‘Tickets for Troops’ program will be watching the game from his suite and members of the Wounded Warriors sled hockey team will also be in attendance and watching the game from Thomas Vanek’s suite.

The Sabres, in partnership with Hasek’s Heroes, Western New York Sled Hockey and the VA Hospital, are hosting on-ice clinics for wounded servicemen and women. The purpose of the clinics is to provide wounded veterans with the opportunity to become active in an on-ice hockey program that will serve as a great physical and mental rehabilitation for these soldiers.
