Festivities will begin in the plaza area located near Perry Street and Illinois Street at 5 p.m. with live music from local band Strictly Hip. The party is open to all fans, and those without tickets can stay to watch MSG’s game feed on two large video screens in the plaza. Food and beverages will be available for purchase before the game and will continue to be sold throughout. There will be a three beer limit per person. Coolers and chairs are prohibited due to the volume of fans expected to attend.
Once fans head inside, they can take advantage of family-friendly food prices from 5:30 to 6:30 at arena concession stands. Special Fan Appreciation Night merchandise prices will be in effect at the Sabres Store throughout the night.
The Buffalo Sabres 50/50 Raffle to benefit the Alumni and Sabres foundations will have a guaranteed pot of at least $25,000 and the team will give away prizes throughout the game, including post-game giveaways. Among these giveaways is last year’s popular “Jersey Off My Back” promotion, in which each player on the team will meet a fan on the ice after the game to give away the jersey he wore during the game. Lindy Ruff will join the team for the giveaway this year, with one lucky fan receiving a “game-worn” tie from the head coach.
On-ice festivities before the game will include player awards, voted on by Buffalo Sabres players and coaches. Players will be presented with the Unsung Hero award, the First Niagara Rookie of the Year award and the New Era Most Valuable Player award. The team will also announce the winner of the 7th Man Award, presented by ADPRO Sports and Connors & Ferris.
Perry Street will be closed between Main Street and Illinois Street during the plaza party. The Illinois Street entrances to the First Niagara Center Parking Ramp will remain accessible via South Park Avenue and Perry Street.
