With paper-based identity theft up 46 percent from last year, “Shredding and E-Cycling Day” has been planned as a way to help Sabres fans protect themselves from identity theft. Fans who bring personal documents to be shredded and old electronics to recycle will receive a coupon for 20 percent off a purchase at the Sabres Store in First Niagara Center. All of the paper shredded at the event and the electronics brought for disposal will be properly recycled by Shred-It and Sunnking. Additionally, for each pound of electronics recycled, Sunnking will make a monetary donation to Re-Tree Western New York, a local organization dedicated to re-planting trees throughout the region.
The event will take place in the parking lot adjacent to two First Niagara Bank locations:
- 1455 French Road in Cheektowaga
- 4435 Transit Road in Williamsville
Sunnking, an electronics recycling, data destruction and asset management company based in Western New York, will also be on hand to assist in properly recycling old electronics and equipment. As electronic scrap proliferates, the need to recycle old electronic equipment in an environmentally responsible way has increased. Electronics contain a variety of heavy metals that can contaminate our soil and water if not recycled properly. Acceptable items for electronics recycling include anything that contains a circuit board or cord. Please do not bring any items that contain liquid or Freon. For a complete list of what Sunnking will accept for recycling please visit www.sunnking.com/acceptable-materials.
The Green Program, presented by National Fuel, is supported by our Green Partners: Chautauqua Energy, Integrys Energy and Modern Recycling.
