After the clean-up is over, there will be a volunteer picnic from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Niagara Frontier Post 1041 (533 Amherst Street).
For more than a decade, Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER has been joined by thousands of volunteers twice a year to remove trash, litter and heavy debris from Western New York shorelines, waterfront parks and wetlands.
While the Sabres Green Team is at the boat launch, there will be about 40 other sites being cleaned up throughout the Buffalo/Niagara region as a part of the annual Spring Shoreline Sweep.
Sabres Green Team members and all others can visit www.sabres.com/green to register and volunteer for the event. Anyone interested in becoming a Sabres Green Team member can also do so online at www.sabres.com/green .
The Spring Clean-up program is the latest “green” initiative that the Sabres have implemented this season in an effort to make Western New York a better place to live. So far this season, the Sabres Green Team has worked to impact the Western New York community through various green programs and initiatives including a Re-Tree WNY fundraiser, a cell phone recycling drive, and a “Shredding and E-Cycling Day.”
