NEW YORK STATE DMV OFFERS REDESIGNED BUFFALO SABRES LICENSE PLATES
BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 24, 2012) --- The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is offering a redesigned Buffalo Sabres license plate, with portions of the proceeds being donated to the Buffalo Sabres Foundation.
The license plates, which are available to Sabres fans across New York State, features the team’s current official logo: a buffalo and crossed swords with gold handles, inside a blue circle outlined in gold.
How to Order: The Sabres plate is available for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Fans can order online 24-hours a day at www.dmv.ny.gov ; by phone, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., through the DMV Custom Plates Unit at (518) 402-4838; or in any DMV issuing office.
Upgrading to the Redesigned Sabres Plates: If you already have a Sabres plate, you may order the updated design for a fee of just $28.75 ($25 plus a $3.75 document fee).
First-Time Registrants: If you do not currently have a Sabres plate, you can purchase a standard plate (number assigned by the DMV) for an initial fee of $60, with an annual renewal fee of $31.25. A personalized version with the motorist's choice of two to six characters, including spaces, is available for $91.25, with an annual renewal fee of $62.50. The annual renewal fee is in addition to the regular registration fee, which is billed every two years.
International Symbol of Access: In addition to being available for passenger class vehicles, the Sabres plate is also available with the International Symbol of Access (ISA) on it for any registrant with a disability who qualifies for such a plate. Anyone with a qualifying disability who wants a plate with the ISA on it must contact the Custom Plates Unit at 518-402-4838 before submitting his/her application.
The mission of the Buffalo Sabres Foundation is to stimulate, support and encourage organizations that serve Western New York which are committed to youth hockey initiatives; the health, wellness and education of underprivileged/disadvantaged youth and military personnel; and the physically and mentally challenged athlete, by providing financial generosity and other platforms for their endeavors. Through such support, these organizations will realize their highest potential, thereby allowing their members to gain the confidence and integrity necessary to succeed in life.
