MSG TO REVISIT SABRES’ LAST TRIP TO THE MONTREAL FORUM IN CLASSIC GAME BROADCAST
BUFFALO, N.Y. (November 15, 2012) --- The Buffalo Sabres today announced that MSG will continue its Sabres-centric programming schedule on Monday nights with the premiere of another classic Sabres game on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. This installment of the classic game series focuses on the Sabres’ final trip to the Montreal Canadiens’ legendary arena, the Montreal Forum, on January 6, 1996.
Hall of Famer center Pat LaFontaine will provide commentary throughout the two-hour re-broadcast of the game in which the Sabres and Canadiens battled back and forth to claim the final victory between the two rivals in the historic Forum before it closed its doors later that spring. LaFontaine scored the game-winning goal for the Sabres a mere 18 seconds after winger Randy Burridge tied the game at 6-6 in the third period to send Buffalo home with a thrilling 7-6 victory.
Prior to the classic game broadcast, MSG will show another re-airing of “Buffalo Sabres: French Connection Statue Unveiling” at 7 p.m.
Viewers in the Buffalo and Rochester markets will be able to watch the programming on MSG, while viewers in the Syracuse, Binghamton and Albany markets can watch on the MSG+ network. DirecTV subscribers can view Monday’s classic game broadcast on channels 638 and 638-1(HD).
