SABRES GREEN TEAM TO PLANT TREES AT MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. PARK
BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 24, 2013) --- The Buffalo Sabres today announced that the Sabres Green Team will join the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy to plant 23 trees at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Buffalo on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 24, 2013) --- The Buffalo Sabres today announced that the Sabres Green Team will join the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy to plant 23 trees at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Buffalo on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The trees, purchased by the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Sabres Foundation, will be planted near the rose gardens and the statue of Martin Luther King Jr. by Sabres Green Team volunteers. The Green Team is looking for 40 volunteers to assist in planting and mulching trees, as well as assisting with garbage clean-up in the park.

Those interested can visit Sabres.com to register to volunteer for the event. All volunteers must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Tools will be provided, as will snacks and water for all volunteers. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park is located on Best Street and Filmore Avenue in Buffalo.


The Buffalo Sabres are dedicated to the sustainability of the environment in Western New York and Southern Ontario through the "Blue & Gold Make Green Initiative". The organization is committed to creating programming to help our fans reduce their environmental footprint and at the same time, educate Sabres fans on conservation issues, teaching fans how to be greener, and directing them to additional resources where they can learn more about environmental issues.

The Green Team Program, presented by National Fuel, is supported by our Green Partners, NOCO and Modern Recycling.

The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC) is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit, independent, community organization that promotes, preserves, restores, enhances and ensures maintenance of Olmsted Parks and Parkways in the greater Buffalo area to guarantee Olmsted park experiences for current and future generations.
