PITTSBURGH – Not only did the Buffalo Sabres defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, they dismantled them in their own building. That’s something that no other team has been able to do for more than a month.

Kevin Porter scored his first two goals of the season as the Sabres brought an end to Pittsburgh’s 15-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory at Consol Energy Center. The loss was Pittsburgh’s first since February 28; and their first at home since February 20. Steve Ott and Cody Hodgson also scored for Buffalo, while Jason Pominville added two assists and was a game-high plus-three.

The victory snapped a four-game winless streak (0-2-2) for the Sabres, who are now 14-17-6 (34 points) with 11 games left to play. Buffalo moves to 12th in the Eastern Conference, five points behind the New York Islanders for eighth place.

Ryan Miller had to make just 19 saves in the win, upping his season record to 12-15-5. Tonight’s game was also Miller’s 492nd career NHL appearance, breaking the Sabres’ franchise record for most games played by a goaltender, originally set by Dominik Hasek.

Tomas Vokoun started and took the loss for Pittsburgh, but was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 13 shots in just over 23 minutes of action. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 16 Sabres’ shots he faced in 36:14 of mop-up duty.
