GAME: Ottawa Senators (22-10-5-3) at Buffalo Sabres (16-20-5-1).

TIME: Friday, 8 p.m. EST.

Coming off a decisive win over one of the NHL's top teams, the Ottawa Senators will look to extend their unbeaten streak to a franchise-record 12 games when they take on the Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena.

The Senators have been unstoppable during their 9-0-2 run, their longest unbeaten streak since a similar run from Oct. 25-Nov. 20, 2001. They've outscored their opponents 43-16 in the stretch, and on Thursday they put the entire league on notice by routing the NHL co-leading Toronto Maple Leafs 7-1.

"These games are important because they are like four-point games," Ottawa's Marian Hossa said after the Senators moved within five points of the Maple Leafs in the Northeast Division.

Bryan Smolinski and Jason Spezza each scored and had two assists, and Wade Redden added two goals for the Senators, who have won six straight.

Backup goaltender Martin Prusek continues to shine as he stopped 34 shots in place of injured Patrick Lalime. Prusek has won his last five starts, posting a 1.39 goals-against average and .944 save percentage (118-for-125) in that span.

Lalime, who missed Thursday's game with a sore back suffered while unlocking his car trunk, is questionable for Friday.

The Sabres have lost just once in their last five (2-1-2), including a 1-1 tie with the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.

Martin Biron, who has a .947 save percentage (161-for-170) during the five-game stretch, preserved the draw with a season-high 44 saves.

"Every team has a goaltender that does that," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "Marty has had a pretty good stretch of games together for us, which is what we needed."

Alexei Zhitnik scored for Buffalo.
